WHAT are CLOUD SERVICES?
Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services—including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, and more—over the Internet (“the cloud”) to offer faster innovation, flexible resources, and easier and more economic scaling.
SHOULD I USE CLOUD SERVICES at my business?
The Pros of Cloud Services
One of the biggest advantages of cloud services is that it can save you money. Cloud services typically allow businesses to pay for only the resources they use, and the cost of infrastructure and maintenance is shared by all users. Additionally, cloud services are typically more secure than on-premise solutions, since they are managed by experts.
The cloud also offers businesses the ability to scale up quickly and easily. If you need more resources, you can simply add them to your cloud account, whereas with on-premise solutions you would need to buy and install new hardware. In case of downsizing, owning the infrastructure would make it hard to sell/get rid of the hardware, while it is very easy on the cloud.
The Cons of Cloud Services
One of the biggest drawbacks of cloud services is that you are dependent on the service provider. If they experience an outage, your business could be affected. Additionally, you may not always have the level of control you need over your data and applications.
Finally, some businesses may not be comfortable with the idea of having their data stored in the cloud. If this is the case, then cloud services may not be the best choice for you.
